When I first left Minnesota as a teenager, I was dumbfounded to discover the rest of the country playing Duck Duck Goose, a mean and simplistic game utterly lacking the finesse and creativity of the game I knew. I'm not normally a dogmatic person, but the superiority of Duck Duck Gray Duck IS the hill I will die on.
I was just talking about this article with my husband last night and shared your comment with him. He was suggesting that it is time that Minnesota stop being so humble and start standing stronger in our power of what we did and are doing to combat ICE and show the world what needs to happen. He suggested my book needs to have some more sharpness in offering these examples to the world. And then your comment came up showing that we really are somewhat superior in many ways and we need to show the way. Thank you.
I remember in college when I learned other people play Duck Duck Goose, which is a very mean game, and it dumbfounded me.
Moved from MN to IL in the early 1970s and was so confused by the more boring, less creative Duck Duck Goose version of the game. My brothers and I just shook our heads and eventually acquiesced. I appreciate the deeper meaning you’ve given the original game (especially in light of the regime’s assault on MN) and for sharing the game’s history too.
After all this, I will never acquiesce to playing Duck Duck Goose again. Writing this book really woke me up to so many Minnesota traditions that hold our values at the core.
This is so beautiful and like when i saw the musical about the town in newfoundland , “come from away” which made me proud to be human. This story makes me happy to be human and alive. Thanks Terrie

I really did not know enough about Minnesota. I can't wait to tell others about this much better version of the game.
